Introducing Mason....

I must freely admit, that ten years ago when my honey and I met I was not an animal person. I wouldn't let them near me, touch me, hated shedding and hair, the smell, and the thought of a bare naked ass looking at me was not pretty. Didn't want them near me, at all. Over the last couple of years, on many occasions, I've looked up to see my honey shaking his head while looking at me saying, "I can't believe what I'm seeing." Me, petting a dog or saying hi to a passing pet. And still, I have not wanted my own. But I'm afraid it happened violently and quickly. I have been stricken. Yesterday we spotted a cute little thing in a shop window that clung to me like you know what on you know what. Today, we went back to look and, guess what, the sign in the window said "Hold for Michelle." I have to say, my heart sunk (but I'll deny it to the end lest anybody see my softer side). The nice shop lesbian lady redirected us to a cute little boy Poodle-Maltese mix born on November 1. We've named him Mason. He's home now, freshly bathed, new bed, and seems exhausted. It's been quite a day for him on, this, his first day in a new home. It's the very first animal that I've ever purchased or owned, other than the ones we had growing up. 45 years old and a brand new kid. Amazing. We've got neighbors coming over in a few hours for a champagne toast and snacks in celebration of our new domestic partnership. And, boy oh boy, won't they be surprised. Married and child. All in the same week. Baby pics are here.

How cute! Oh...and Mason too. ;-)

I have a long story about how I ended up with Calvin. The timing was awful but I made it work. I can't imagine not having him around. And so many friends said, "I didn't know you were a dog person?" It only takes one.

I'll open up a bottle of champagne here in Houston and toast all three of you!

Congratulations!!! it sounds like you're growing up in your 40's!!

I can't imagine not having my pup-child, but then again I grew up with critters of every sort.

Hope you have half the joy from your child that I get from my own.

My princess sends her love to Mason. She is a Schnauzer/Poodle mix (Schnoodle) and looks very much like Mason (only with "naturally curly hair").

Oh, Lewis, if you have been bitten with love for your new child, you will never be the same. They will frustrate and anger you, but they will fill your life with such love that you will never understand life without them!

Best wishes to you, your husband, and your new son.

He's adorable. I can't imagine my life without a pet or two around to get in the way, throw up and whine at inappropriate times. Ummm - never mind that last party. Congrats! :O

Well, this certainly explains the rush to the altar. And here I'd thought that shotgun weddings were an exclusively breeder phenomenon.

Congratulations on the puppy. Very cute. Is there a Dixon in the future?

Congratulations on your husband and "child." You are toast now, you know that, don't you? Your dog will soak up all your love and return it a hundredfold. You won't believe the lengths you'll go to for that four-legged bundle. And you'll smile and cry and do it again.

Best of luck and love to your new family.

Aw, is he not the sweetest looking little thing?

Well it's about time! I find animals way better and nicer than people to be honest.

Mason has two Daddies! Congrats to all of you.

Well well. Never say never. I would NEVER of thought I would have a dog much less two. My brother and friends would say I was nasty nice and too finicky in my house and yard. They don't say that anymore. Dogs rule!
Congrats Lewis on all you have to celebrate.

We have a cat and he/it is the most annoying thing in the world. But Mao is adorable when he's good. And I love looking at Ed caring for him. But I hate him, but I love him!

Better you than me! No "kids" here!

too cute, I love him! I need to be a daddy again! Love that little chair he's on.

Steven said...

Such a cutie-patootie! He reminds me of Boomer. Remember to let him do his own thing for the next week or so until he's accustomed to you and his surroundings. I'd hate to hear of a bite "...on you know what you know where." ;-)

Congrats, Lewis!

Congratulations to the happy couple! I have to say that you didn't look with child in your wedding photos. I would have never guessed it to be a shotgun wedding, but thankfully your hubby did the right thing and kept you from the shame of having a bastard child. Also might I add that he has your eyes. :)
