How about these reasons overheard for telling the Ada County Jury Commission that you're not going to be a good juror and want out of the commitment:
1. I don't like Jews.
2. I don't like Negroes.
3. I don't like Muslims.
4. I don't like Mormons.
And My Favorite:
5. I'm a Christian.

WOW! For real? It is almost like a sitcom... WHEW!
I do the opposite; I talk about how excited I am to be in a jury; when I list all my experiences in the medical and legal fields, I am dropped like a hot potato.
Were these stated by one and the same person? If so, I take issue with the last one and would tell the person that he ought to re-read the "owner's manual".
BTW, I must comment on the blast from the past pic you are currently using: You remind me of a very studly Clark Kent-type guy.
So when do we see the picture of you in the tight blue lycra spandex suit? ;)
Oh man! That is classic.
I would love to serve on a jury, honestly. I think it would be a fascinating experience, and I think I'd be good at it. But I will never be chosen, and I've sat three times. We have to fill out a form that asks questions about our life, and the prosecutor and defense are allowed to question you about it. No defense attorney in her right mind would choose someone who has been assaulted, robbed, molested, and had two cars stolen, even if I say I can be impartial anyway. (I wouldn't choose me, either.) Maybe I'll get picked for a white-collar crime.
I'll bet some of those comments were invented just to get out of jury duty. Most people will do anything to avoid it.
Oh dear god....Hey if you see those Christian Fam stickers pick up a couple--I really want to re do it and use the 2 men/2 dogs and a cat....that would be great eh?
I'm thinking it would be far more effective to declare one's self a raging homo-conservative vigilante.
I wonder if saying you hate bigots would work?
Just want to say I love the new headshot. Quite fetching.
I've never had to serve jury duty but I suppose I would if it became necessary. Of course I'm not sure how it works here in Australia as I'm a new citizen. Maybe I'll find out someday and let you know. BTW your live feed says I've just logged on from South Australia which is a very long way from me as I am sitting in Hobart Tasmania to the southeast of South Australia across the Bass Strait. I'm just sayin' :)
Boise almost deserves a blog of its own. Or it deserves to be wiped off the map. I'm sure there are a few decent folks there.
I got called for jury duty once. I was dismissed, however, because the defense lawyer's firm had defended me earlier in my life and that was considered bias.
I'm due to receive a jury duty notice sometime soon.
The last time that happened, I made up some story (which was half-true) about how a lawyer at my firm had been shot dead and I might not be as impartial as I'd like to be. I think the judge saw through the WIDE hole in the middle but let me off the hook out of compassion for a poor liar.
At least that's what I'd like to believe. =P
