Mid Winter Comings and Goings

After last season, I vowed I would not watch American Idol this year. I'm just having a difficult time coming up with justifying sitting in front of the television for such lackluster entertainment. So far, I watched part of the audition shows from this week. I must be stopped before I get into this season.....

I have jumped right back into the gym routine over the last month. Our gym added a 3rd floor to it and it is so nice to have more space to spread out and enjoy the workout. It's sort of a kick to sweat.

Our sweet, lovable, non-aggressive Mason has taken to growling and trying to nip a person or two and another pooch. They are people that are not particularly enamoured with him and the other pooch is a dog that does not behave well in public and has been aggressive in the past with other dogs. I do not allow Mason to have bad behavior -- and he always gets into serious trouble with me when he misbehaves. It's just odd that it has just now cropped up. It must be curbed.

We have played Bingo for two months in a row with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. I had no idea playing games with boys could be so much fun and can see this being a regular event for us.

My lover boy will be absent from the nest for an entire weekend later this month while he disappears with who knows who do to who knows what. The Pooch and I will be home alone. I am trying to decide what exciting activities I will be including in my bachelor weekend. It is very seldom that I'm home alone and I want to make the most of it -- I want to do things I typically don't do and see people that I don't often see. I have thought about taking Mason somewhere for the weekend. And I've considered having someone come and visit us for the weekend too. I just don't want to do the same old things and really want to make it count. Ideas??

February will bring me to 15 years at my company. I can't believe that my air mattress-air hostess-trolley dolley-stewardess career has been that long. February will also see us spending a week in Idaho with my family....a visit that is long overdue.

15 years? WOW!!
And I love an occasional "bachelorette" weekend to myself. But given that my wifey has been gone for about 10 days now helping her Mom care for and then grieve... I am very much looking forward to her arrival back home to me this weekend!
PS- I never got into American Idol... not sure why.

I gave Idol one hour and that was it this year. No more.

Congrats on your 15 years! Good for you!

I think you should have some boys over for your bachelor weekend...do your nails, mud mask, and drink some wine, gossip and watch TV. Sounds like fun to me.

It is interesting that Mason would take on such behavior. Has there been some kind of trigger? I know our princess began a "barking routine" when we moved into the new house that was uncharacteristic of her before. I sense that she feels some kind of need to be territorially protective. It's been very difficult to break her of it.

Oh, to be alone in my own house. That's happened I think three times in 21 years. I have to leave to be alone, but it's in my nature to need it.

I like La Princessa's suggestion: museums are a good place to go in the winter.

Won't Blair be expecting you to remain at home alone all weekend, pining away for him? ;-) I'm sure you'll come up with something fun to do. And congrats on the work anniversary!

"I had no idea playing games with boys could be so much fun"

Oh, my poor sweetie--where have you BEEN??" :-)

Or, was it said ironically with that wonderful, devilish twinkle in your eye?

I say a bubble bath and a glass of wine for your solo weekend. :) And maybe a blogger brunch, too.

That bingo thang looks like too much fun!

I agree; what about a mani/pedi weekend? I've got both on my weekend itinerary.

And 'congrats' on 15-years of service. Awesome!

Enjoy your weekend alone...it's often a nice respite.

Bandit can get a little grouchy sometimes too.

The idea of getting Bandit and Mason together is irresistible--what if they became boyfrients?

I am glad you are planning on kicking up your heals! You do so much for me, Mason, my mom and others....time for some "you" time!

Congrats on 15 years as a Space Waitress. I cant believe how time flies, no pun intended. I am looking forward to being right there beside you for the next 15 and right on to the old folks home!

Cant wait for more Bingo! What fun! We are so lucky to have such a great group of friends aren't we!!!

Love to you! Always! Until the end of time......

I'm right there with you on the whole American Idol thing.

Oh-- and I always thought the correct term was "Sky Waitress".

lots of stuff going on man...Congrats on the gym and milestone at work.....I am sure you will find something to do while B is away....Mason sounds like he is getting to be quite butch....But it maybe due to that not so well behaved other pooch eh?

Don't stay at home! Take Mason for a jaunt in the country; maybe that will take his mind of the other dog and people at whom he's growling.

and congratulations on 15 years!

I hope Mason starts being a good boy again. Is anything stressing him out, like a change in routine?

Congrats on 15 years! Wow. I'm shocked you haven't killed anyone yet. I couldn't do it.

Doing the same old things, but by yourself, would be different, no?

Sometimes quiet and solitude can be therapeutic.

American Idol just isn't the same without Paula Abdul so I have to watch this latest season with my arms crossed!

And 15 years with the same employer is quite an accomplishment....especially in these economic times!

A"kick to sweat"? You are a perv Lewis. I can relate that people do not like it when one's dog is aggressive towards them. I have unsolved issues with my Lucy.
A free weekend? How about a trip to Banf Springs? That's got to be a quick flight for you and probably free at that. Plus a good looking guy with a lovable dog could get free room and board as well. I'm sure of it.

I watched the previous two seasons of American Idol. Like you, this year I said no. I don't want to invest that much time into it. The show is enjoyable, but I don't want to commit. So far, so good. I've resisted.

I need to get back into the gym routine too. It's time!
