Time

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Did you know all of that stuff above? Wow. I've got a fairly tall order in front of me for the coming year....well, for the rest of my life, in all reality. Lots to do internally. Plenty to keep working on. I hope you'll join me.

UPDATE: And here's how The Byrds would beautifully spell out what I was trying to say above. Thanks to my friend Stephen at Post Apocalyptic Bohemian for the musical reminder!

No worries... apparently time is on your side.

Or Mick Jagger's side, depending on who you believe.

What a nice pic up there.

Happy new year, my friend. Hopefully we'll have time and opportunity to do all those things.

I have always liked that passage, and the older I get the more meaningful it is. I only wish I'd remember these principles better when I'm behind the 8 ball.

Stephen: Oh, that's great...make me cry with the video. I'm going to do an "update" to my post and include a link to the video. I think we all need to see/hear it!

Very warm and inviting new header pic. That seems like the Arnie I spent the afternoon with.
Time indeed... one of my favorite passages... and yet so complex. Was "time to go back to work after the holidays" in that list? ;-)

I remember that scripture from my days as a Bible-thumper. Nowadays its a good reminder of the need for balance in one's life. There's a time for everything.

Truer words were never sung. Er, writ.

I love that passage and song. It's a wonderful reminder to accept what is and be patient for what is to be. Great way to start the year.

We just need to find more time dont we? It seems we always have the ideas and never the time!

How nice to spend the start of another new year together! Happy 2010 honey!

Those of us in the Jewish faith call the book "Kohelet," in the original Hebrew. It was written by King Solomon and the title means either "one who gathers" or "one amongst the gathering."

i was positively surprised when i studied that chapter of The Bible the first time. that king was a pretty smart guy! and yes, i've come to realize that everything has a date, a time, a second, an hour, a year, a week, or a month. when and where everything will fall into place isn't my decision to make, or even in my power. thank heavens for Higher Powers!

My list of to does are about this long. I was hurrying to try and get them all completed but then I thought, why not slow down and enjoy the ride.

I loved the musical version by the Byrds and somewhere I still have the 45 - altho now I listen to the mp3. I guess it parallels the song. There was a time for a 45 and a time for a mp3.

May you find purpose and meaning in the cycle of time.
