She's Gone .......

It's only been a week since I wrote about Lessening Our Footprint. And my good friend over at Left Coast/Right Brain linked to a fabulous article along the same lines too. We had a not-so-pretty weekend at home because hubby is very very sick. Horrible sore throat complete with things that should not be in somebody's throat along with a fever. He's been in bed since Thursday night. So, we had to skip all of Portland Pride's events, a party, and other things that we'd loved to have done. BUT, yesterday afternoon brought a call from our realtor...."an offer has been made on your house!" We were thrilled. It was nearly what we'd thought may happen. She asked for the world. But we countered. We asked her to pay full asking price and we'd cover some closing costs for her. And she bit! Within two hours, our house was sold. We feel very blessed, especially in this housing market, to have received full asking price -- and it's worth every single penny. Now, there's the home inspection and other assorted necessary requirements...but for all intensive purposes, it's sold. Now, we really should find a place to live since we don't have one lined up for sure quite yet......And, oh, about that 11 July move-in date.............
UPDATE: You'll see in the comments that the English majors are out in full force and I stand embarassingly (is that a word?) corrected -- I should have used the phrase "for all intents and purposes."

Wow! That was quick. There are
houses here in the metroplex that
have been on the market for a
couple of years. Seem like the
market there is in good shape.
I drive by this one house on my way
to work every day and it has been
on the market for a couple of years
Makes me wonder what is wrong with
it.

HUGS!!!

Great news!! Especially in this market!

I think you had better start pounding the pavement in search of a new place.

My dear neighbor...although I am happy for you the sale will still be happening under full protest of The Compound. We are eagerly awaiting details regarding the buyer. FYI...the phrase is "for all intents and purposes."

I was simply going to say "CONGRATS" since I rambled so in my last comment... but I had to chuckle at the "English majors" comment. I didn't even notice! I think my brain works in "T-9"... usually just "fills in" the word I _think_ should fit! LOL! ;-)

Congratulations Lewis. Now the fun part. Seriously, I love to move. I can say that since I'm not.
Sorry to hear about the better half.

I hope that hubby is feeling better and what a downer that you couldn't make it to the Pride festivities. But on the upside, congrats on the selling of the house! Now I can dig up my St. Joseph statue that I buring upside down, facing the house on the east side. Glad it worked for you. And good luck with finding the new place.

afod said...

OOPS.....buring = buried. Almost as bad as "intensive." ;-)

Wow! The house sold really fast! All that work you put into it really paid off. Congratulations.

I hope your spouse is feeling better, if not now then very soon. Sounds like a real icky bug he's got there. Antibiotics??

Congrats on selling your home! And as far as the correction, I appreciate when people point things like that out to me. I'd rather be corrected than keep making the same mistake over and over which reminds me of the quote" It's better to keep you mouth shut and have people think you're a fool than to open it an remove all doubt"... ha! and, sounds like you better get packing!!

"Just David!" said...

"and" remove all doubt... oops

Congrats on the sale in such a tough market. I'm sure all the inspections will go just fine. Now as you said, it's time to find that special place. Enjoy!

Lewis, I prefer 'for all intensive purposes'. What point a purpose if it's not intensive?

I actually prefer 'for all intensive porpoises' but that kind of changes the meaning, non?

Anyway, woo-hoo! Well done on the sale. You should have asked for more! No really, great news.

Looking forward to the housewarming party in the new one...;-)

Wow. That is awesome! Congrats!

And....you've been tagged! Hopefully you the the hubs are feeling well enough to dine out on Thursday, and have your dollars go towards Bites for Rights, the fundraiser for Basic Rights Oregon. I mean, come one. Eat out? 15% goes to BRO? How easy. Tag, you're it!

Congratulations on a very quick sale. I guess I'm not really that surprised because your house and yard are both very beautiful and well taken care of. Good luck with your move!
