Bring Your Gun to Church

Guns for God. Pistol Packin' Preacher. Guns for Jesus. Whatever. Dear god in heaven. Just when you think you've heard it all, something like this pops up. In spite of the fact that it scares the hell out of me to think that this is where a portion of our globe is headed, I laughed and laughed at parts of this article. I think it reminded me too much of good ole' Idaho....my home state. I remember also going to a Christmas parade in Eagle, Idaho, when we heard Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA blaring from speakers in the middle of December, in the cold, at Christmas time. We still poke fun at it. I laughed at the raffle prizes (membership in the NRA, a Lee Greenwood video, and a gun itself). I laughed again at setting a fake fire to the Bill of Rights; I laughed at just picturing them all singing My Country Tis of Thee and God Bless America. It's a piece right out of picture-perfect Americana-land. Complete with the red, white and blue! And, to think, that July 4...Independence Day...is in just a few days from now. What a poor little subsection of our nation. Scared. Weird. Strange. Old. Dark-ages induced. Feeling the need to strap a weapon to their hips and head over to the nearest church for the Sunday service. Something's missing here, folks. In spite of it all, the little people of this world do provide me with a good laugh from time to time.

Nice rifle! Yes the little ones are amusing if we can keep them in line and from congregating. Otherwise they are loose cannons and should be dealt with accordingly. Maybe that is why they are on the Homeland's Security watch list?

You know that I'm too scared to laugh, right?

Sadly the attitude is much more widespread than some might think. My mind is blown by how people can participate in events such as that Christmas parade or the Bring Your Guns to Church Day and not see the incongruity.

YIKES with the "open carry service"!! That is one service I know I would be happier to skip!

You look like a handsome devil in that ten-gallon hat. All I thought about was that maybe this was in response to the abortionist who was shot and killed in his church during a Sunday service not too long ago.

sometimes i feel either (a) ignorant, or (b) lucky. i don't really give a rat's a** if there's a "church" anywhere in the world where people carry guns. that being said, i have freedom of choice not to attend that "meeting" or "service", or whatever it was. my first thought was, "ah, what a great ploy for them to attract attention and a larger congregation". lo and behold, yep! sigh.......don't people have something better to spend their minds on???

Pretty speechless - my greatness... Well, I'm surprised that there is still such a 'backwater' community. I would expect it here, but in the US...

Unless you are a hunter, I can't see why anyone would need/want a gun. Period.

Ugh. Did I ever write about the time our across-the-street Mormon neighbors had a fire in their "shed" (it was the size of a small warehouse) which contained their ward arsenal, and 3 giant vans pulled up in seconds, and they bucket brigaded the entire arsenal into the vans and THEN called the fire department?

Weird.

This country is still full of ignorance beyond words.

So sad.
