On this day in 1971, Carole King's Tapestry album came out which included You've Got a Friend. Be sure you listen to it.....and pay attention to that part about If the sky above you Should turn dark and full of clouds And that old north wind should begin to blow Keep your head together and call my name out loud. Wow. Timeless, I say. (Thanks to Jim's Stuff for reminding me...)
OMG... I played this album so much, starting in 1971.Tapestry was #1 for 15 consecutive weeks a first for a female artist), & remained in the charts for over 6 years. In terms of time on the charts, it ranks 5th overall & in terms of length on the charts for solo musical acts it ranks2n d. It remains the longest charting album by a female solo artist. Tapestry received 4 Grammy Awards including Album of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Record of the Year ("It's Too Late"), & Song of the Year ("You've Got a Friend"). I was a sophmore in High School... were you even born yet?
