I'm So Glad He's Still Around

Did you know? Have you heard? He and I are coming up on 13 years together next week....on the 9th. Did you know that I had no plans for us to have ever made it this far? Were you aware that I was planning on being alone at this point in my life? Venture back with me, will you? December 1 is World AIDS Day. That means something very intimately different to each individual. For me, it begins here:

Part I -- When HIV Strikes Close to Home

Part II -- Epilogue....When HIV Strikes Close to Home

If you're in a hurry, don't bother. It takes some time to read these two posts. And be sure you read them in order. And it is really not the type of writing that can be skimmed or breezed through. These are posts for the hearty, the energetic, those really searching for knowledge and who really have an eager spirit for learning. I hope you'll open your heart, your mind, your ears and lives to those with HIV. Everyone needs a hand, a shoulder, a hug, whatever. Today is a perfect day to give whatever someone around you needs.

Read these posts before. It reminds us again that we are on this earth for but a moment and to live life to the full.

Thank you for reposting links to those. I still get teary eyed toward the end of the second post.

arnie - reading these two posts - words escape me. i adore you and am really enjoying getting to know blair. the two of you are so very lucky to have found each other and gone on this journey through life together. (part of me is quite jealous of you [in a good way]). thank you so much for sharing this story. your post is the "hope" that my own post did not have. thank you for letting me see a glimmer of light on this day of remembrance.

i'm am so happy that he has you, and that you have him. - kyle

I do so appreciate your and Blair's yearly reminder of how important Dec. 1st is. It is so easy to feel "removed" from world AIDS day when it has not touched "anyone you know." Sad, I know, but it is often the human condition. But you and Blair bring human _to_ the condition... and your posts (which I re-read each year) are a compelling reminder of why it is so important to love freely and give openly... for the time we have.
I am grateful that you two still have each other! HUGS!
