Boys In the Band

...."What I am Michael is a 32 year old ugly, pockmarked, Jew fairy. And if it takes a little while to pull myself together and if I smoke a little grass before I get the nerve to show my face to the world, it's nobody's god damned business but my own........And how are you this evening?"

..."There's one thing to be said about masturbation: you certainly don't have to look your best..."

..."You're lips are turning blue. You look like you've been rimming a snowman..."

Quotes From Boys In the Band which we just saw for the first time the other night.

I'd be horrified that you'd never seen it, but since you HAVE seen it, now, I'll let it slide...looks like we may need to do some movie intervention while you guys are here.

I've never seen it. It's on my list.

At the risk of dating myself, back in the day I saw it in the theater. Twice.

My favorite line (one that I still use on a daily basis)? "That's French with a cedilla."

I still have never seen the movie in its entirety, only in clips. I should see if Blockbuster has it in its library....

And the quotes are almost as good as anything from The Women (the original, not that blech of a re-make).

I like it - and it's true, you don't have to look your best!

For the first time?!?!?! I thought every gay man has to see that movie before they get their card. I want that movie on DVD now that it's out. Great movie.

I've seen it once, when it first came out in theatres, and I recognized those lines at once. That is one memorable movie.

At the risk of being unpopular - I hated that movie. It was well done and all, but it just brought out every feeling of bitterness and guilt and resentment and shame that gay men felt then, and while I was growing up. I probably should see it again (it's probably been 15 years), but it left a very bad taste in my mouth and I felt horrible after watching it.

Thank for you comment on my blog today. I needed it. And yes, some odors are great, others not so much.

"Turning" I didn't care for it the first time I saw it as a young man but now I appreciate and enjoy it.
