Hump Day Happenings

It's back! My sinus infection, that is. I was out of work for a week or more, went back to the friendly skies, and now it appears to have returned. I honestly thought I was over it. I'm a die-hard fan of my NeilMed Sinus Flushing System. Amazing how good it feels to actually remove the crud from the inside of one's sinuses. In all seriousness, if you're not using it, you should be -- anybody with allergies, colds, sinus issues and the like will find great relief.

Conversion Disorder
. Anybody have personal experience?

I ask a row of passengers the other day what they'd like to drink. I do that regularly, you know. And the lady tells me that she's going to have an orange juice and her husband (who is not in his seat at the time) will have nothing "because he's been a very naughty boy." And the conversation ensues from there while I see her husband back behind our beverage trolley waiting patiently to get back to his seat after using the restroom. I'm listening to her tell me this story about him being naughty while I'm staring back to him behind our cart in the center aisle. Just looking around, totally unaware of what his wife has just told me. I wonder if it was true? And I wonder if it crossed his mind when I said to him, "And what does the naughty boy want to drink today?" He looked sort of innocent to me.

Mason has made yet another trip to the veterinarian. I swear, it's a very good thing that we're enrolled in Banfield's Wellness Program which equates to free office visits and a reduction in all other services and procedures. He's better now but over the weekend he was pacing around, uncomfortable, unable to rest, relax or sleep. We have done our best, you all know we have. We've changed foods, tried this, tried that. And now he's on this ultra-low-allergen dog food and absolutely no people food. Apparently small breed dogs, and even light-colored dogs, tend to have more allergy issues than others. He's better now but it seems to just keep happening. And he's such a good boy....it's hard to see him at the Vet. Trembling, staring at us, begging us to get him out of there.

And before I go, I'd just like to say that I'm thankful I've got more in the shorts than Howard Stern apparently has. I heard it with my own ears last night on the new Piers Morgan show......Stern tells Morgan that he's "Hung Like a Raisin." And I was wondering.

Conversion disorder looks scary, from what I read on the link. Howard Stern? Is he still around?

Cubby, I listen to Howard Stern in the morning while I'm doing my Blog Roll. You mean you DON'T?

Lewis (I know that's your last name but I forgot your first name) I bet you get a lot of infections locked up in that tube in the sky with all those germs bouncing off the walls of the plane. I don't envy you. I used to get infections (colds) on a regular basis when I commuted on the train to my banking job in center city Philadelphia in the 80's. Now here at the hotel front desk, I may catch a stray germ or two from one of the housekeeping staff but other than that, I'm home free from getting sick every winter.
Small dogs shouldn't eat people food. I never did wean my Pomeranians from that habit but I do know that they shouldn't stare me down for some of what I was eating. But who has the heart to turn them down? It's a tough one.

LOL Lewis...Now if you had of said that to an unsuspecting gay man, the story could have turned out quite differently. You are a brave man!

I don't know what you are feeding Mason, but about 6 years ago we started making our own dog food because we needed to put on of our dogs on a special diet.

Soon after all our dogs were on the same food and we've had great luck with it.

We make a large pot of brown rice with chicken stock, chicken meat and green beans. We supplement with a vitamin E and a fish oil pill each morning.

So far, so good. As long as no one eats a stick or a corn cob or a ball.

Conversion disorder - I have lots of experience with them! and interesting they are! They are not to be confused with factitious disorders or malingering.

Our 10 year old ridgeback went off his food. Against all advice, we upped his calories by changing to all canned food, just to get him to eat. He ate, and began a prolonged second puppy-hood, in which his energy soared, his coat, which had thinned hugely, grew back, and a few other health issues completely disappeared.

Hope you're feeling better. Bandit's is on Banfield's Wellness program too. It's a worthwhile investment.

Hi, restless pacing is often a petit mal seizure or a precursor to a grand mal. I don't want to be alarmist but I'm tuned into that stuff because Mr. Dog has epilepsy so I watch for those signs. He also has allergies. Have you tried a teaspoon of chia seed in his food? Also according to our vet dog's allergic reactions often manifest in the ear which leads to restlessness since they can't get comfortable. Mr Dog is allergic to wheat, which seems to be in almost all the dog foods except the really pricey ones. I make his food but that's because Science Diet prescription mobilization formula is really expense here in Mexico.

Theresa
